ABOUT US
A life centered around the design of buildings and interiors, Jonathan has over 30 years experience in varied aspects of commercial design and domestic architecture.
With a BA (Hons) from the university of North London and early work experience in architectural design offices including being an associate partner in a practice serving blue chip leisure based clients, taking projects from design concept, presentation, drawings and specification through project management to completion to strict time and budget parameters.
Jonathan along with his wife Cheryl bought a traditional long barn in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and undertook the restoration and conversion of it themselves, traveling from their home near Cambridge on a weekly basis. This led to local enquiries for both the building and joinery work as well as the architectural and planning aspect, they were then able to realise a dream of living and working in the Yorkshire Dales.
Moving forward 25 years, they offered a design and build service, whereby they would design and obtain planning permission and building regulations approval for conversions, extensions and new builds. They enjoy the creativity of architectural design and the connection and understanding of traditional skills and materials and are passionate about creating exciting new and re-imagined spaces.
A physical involvement with construction has led to a fundamental knowledge of all aspects of domestic building techniques, from traditional stone and masonry structures and their inherent issues to extensions and new builds in timber frame and SIPS. They have a wealth of knowledge and what is needed to make a project successful in both aesthetics and performance.
They have now downsized and moved to the York area where together they are using their experience and knowledge of building and the planning system to concentrate on architectural design predominantly the North of England.
